COMMUNITY GOVERNOR VACANCIES
There are currently no Community Governor vacancies.
Community Governors are appointed by the Governing Body to represent the wider community interests of the school.
Community governors can be people who live or work in the community served by the school or, if they do not, who are committed to the good governance and success of the school.
In deciding whom to appoint, the Governing Body aims to reflect a balance of interests.
Many employers encourage their staff to become a school governor and allow reasonable time off to fulfil these duties, including training. They realise that the skills gained through being a school governor are transferable to the workplace.
Prospective governors should submit the application form below, to the Governing Body for consideration. Where appropriate, you may be invited to meet online with the vice chair of governors, to chat about what is involved with being a governor and what skills and experience you could bring.
1) The prospective governors’ application forms are circulated to governors in advance of the next Governing Body meeting;
2) At the next meeting, governors cast their vote via secret ballot, taking into account the information provided by the candidates;
3) The minutes of the meeting will record the decision made by the Governing Body to appoint or not, and all candidates will be notified in writing within five working days.
A person cannot apply for appointment, or continuing to hold office as a community governor of a school if
they are disqualified under any of the criteria listed on the final page of our application form.
