Interesting fact:  There are currently over 22,000 unpaid volunteers who work as school governors in Wales, making it one of the biggest voluntary sectors in the UK.

This Autumn, the school will send out information regarding two Parent Governor positions that will be available from October 2022.

We do not currently have any Community Governor vacancies.

Community Governors are appointed by the Governing Body to represent the wider community interests of the school, so you do not have to take part in an election/voting process.

Community governors can be people who live or work in the community served by the school or who are simply committed to the good governance and success of our school.

In deciding whom to appoint, the Governing Body aims to reflect a balance of interests but we do not require you to have any professional experience of education.

If you are working, many employers encourage their staff to become a school governor and allow reasonable (paid) time off to fulfil these duties, including training. They realise that the skills gained through being a school governor are transferable to the workplace.

The process:

1)  Your application form (see below) is read by the school's governors in advance of the next Governing Body meeting;

2)  At the next meeting, governors have a brief discussion before voting on your application;
3) The minutes of the meeting will record the decision made by the Governing Body to appoint or not, and all candidates will be notified in writing within five school days.
