Literacy

Last week we read Jack and the Beanstalk, and this week we are writing our own version of the story with a different ending. We have explored how changing a word can change the meaning of a sentence and have thought about the start of our stories.

Today, we are going to plan the endings of our stories. We know that in the original story, Jack finds the Giant's castle at the top of the beanstalk and steals the harp, golden coins and magical hen. I would like you to decide what Jack is going to find and steal in your story - this can be as wacky and imaginative as you like!

Activity - Draw a picture of what Jack finds at the top of your beanstalk and what he steals.

Green Group: Label your pictures with initial sounds (the first sound in each word). See if you can hear the initial sound and then find it on your sound mat.

Orange and Yellow Group: Think of some WOW words to describe the items Jack steals in your story. Sound out the words you would like to write and find the sounds on your sound mat.

Blue and Red Group: Think of some WOW words to describe the items Jack steals in your story. Can you also think of a time opener for this part of the story? Remember, this isn't the beginning or the end of the story!

Please take a picture of your work and submit it to the relevant activity on Seesaw.
