Phonics
Phase 1
We are exploring sounds in our environment.Encourage the children to be 'Sound Detectives' listen to sounds inside the house and outside either in the garden or out on walks.See how many they can recognise and name.
Phase 2
We have started introducing the letter sounds s a t. See if the children can find objects in the house starting with these sounds.
Make a 'Sally Sound Bag' and put in objects starting with these sounds .Can the children identify them by feeling the object? Can they say the sound they begin with?
Mathematics and Numeracy
Sorting
Go on an autumn walk and make a collection of autumn leaves. Can the children sort the leaves by colour into sets? If they are confident with this extend the task by sorting by size.
Number
Encourage the children to count 5 leaves by arranging them in different ways and touching them as they count.
If your child is confident extend the number to 10.
