Home learner of the week is definitely Emily!!!!!! Her giraffe inspired poem fits the poetic structure, it's got a story to follow and there's even some rhyming couplets within. Well done!
The Great Escape
The giraffe and the anteater escaped from the zoo
In a fine wooden canoe.
They piled it high with all their supplies
And they had a big surprise.
They found a porcupine at the side of the road
With his luggage ready to go.
He hopped on the canoe and had a brew.
They sailed the high seas for weeks and weeks
Till finally they saw land ahoy!!!!
A pig, a goat and a smiley stoat welcomed them
And the animals were full of joy.
The animals needed something to do
Now they had left the zoo.
The giraffe picked bananas from the tops of the trees
The anteater ate all the bees.
The porcupine sat down with a nice cup of tea
Because he was very lazy!!
