Today we are going to explore reasons why Vortigern invited Saxons to live on his land, and to think about the significance of this event!

We are going to be discussing his actions in the live lesson at 1pm!

Why did he invite Hengist and Horsa to his land? Do they think it was a good idea, and did he have any choice? What do his actions tell us about life in Britain after the Romans left?

Then you need to make up your own mind about his actions! Were Vortigern's ideas good or bad?
Write your argument and send in a video of you presenting it and submit it on Seesaw!

What is important to remember when presenting your argument? Are you going to use eye contact?
Think about the pitch of your voice. How can you use your voice to persuade your audience and convey passion for your argument? How are you going to use facial expressions to express your point of view?

Gold- Sum up the ideas discussed in the lesson and make your own decision. Write an argument to make people believe that Vortigern’s ideas were good or bad. Remember you are trying to persuade people to believe you- this needs to be reflected in the language used.

Silver- Put yourself into the position of Vortigern. Write an argument to make people believe that Vortigern’s ideas were good.

Bronze- Draw a picture of Vortigern. Create a short paragraph below the picture to support Vortigerns ideas as bad.
