Today we are going to explore reasons for the Anglo-Saxon ‘invasions’ of England. We are also going to be finding (local) evidence of Anglo-Saxon settlement!

Why do people leave a country for another?
Why would Anglo- Saxons move to England?
Did the Anglo-Saxons more to Wales?

Your task today is to plan and write a letter from an Anglo-Saxon traveller back home, explaining the reasons for coming to England.

You need to consider the
Gold - Imagine you are an Anglo-Saxon traveller who has come to England to settle. Write a letter back home to tell them why you have chosen to move to England and how you will provide for your family. You need to include the positives of moving to England and express any concerns you may have.

Silver- You need to imagine you are an Anglo-Saxon traveller who has come to England to settle. Write a letter back home telling them about your journey there and why you have chosen to move to England. Use the silver planning document to support your letter writing.

Bronze- Imagine you are an Anglo-Saxon farmer who must provide for his family. Write a letter to describe a day in your life and how you provide for your family. Use the bronze planning document to support your writing.
