Lesson- Estimate and order numbers to 20
Watch the teaching video to remind you how to estimate and check quantities to 20. You might want to practise with your adult using your own pegs and washing line.
Activities
Red Group and Blue Group: Ask your adult to turn your book so that the page is landscape and draw a straight line along the top of the page. Write the numbers 11-20 in order along the line to create your own number line. Under each number, draw the correct amount of dots.
Yellow Group: You will need 10 cups or bowls and lots of small objects like toys, blocks or pieces of pasta. Count between 11 and 20 objects into a plastic cup and check the number carefully. Then they take post-it note or piece of paper and write the matching number on it with a felt tip pen. Stick this number onto the plastic cup. Can you create a line of numbered cups from 11 to 20?
