Mathematics

This week in Maths we have been learning abut which numbers can be added together to equal 5 and 6. These are called Bonds.

Today we will explore the Bonds to 10. You will need ten small items (toys, coins, beads, grapes, etc.) and two plates.

Activity - Find number bonds to 10 practically.

Put 1 object on a plate. How many objects are left? There should be 9. 1 and 9 are a Bond to 10.

Green group: Can you draw 1 and 9 on Seesaw in the same colour? Can you find any other Bonds to 10? Can you draw these on Seesaw in a different colour?

Orange Group: Ask your adult to draw a cherry model for you or print out the Orange Group Cherry Models document. Can you put 1 and 9 in the bottom of the cherry model? Can you find any other Bonds to 10? Can you make cherry models for those?

Yellow Group: Ask your adult to start an addition sentence for you or print out the Yellow Group Addition Sentences Document. Can you put 1 and 9 into the addition sentences? Can you find the other Bonds to 10? Can you put those in a number sentence?

Blue and Red Group: Use your objects and plates to find all of the Bonds to 10 and write a number sentence for each. If you find number sentences tricky, you can use the Yellow Group document to start you off.

Upload a picture or video of your work to Seesaw. I would love it if you could use the microphone button to explain to me how you found each bond to 10!
