Year 5

Croeso i Flwyddyn 5 - Welcome to Year 5          Summer Term 2014

Mr Searle and Miss Reed would like to wish all parents and children a very warm welcome back to Glyncoed after the half term! We hope all of you enjoyed yourselves and that all pupils are now raring to get back to work!

We are very excited to commence our Summer Term plan, starting with our exciting school trip to Libanus Mountain Centre on Thursday 5th June 2014

Can I still remind parents that we are taking in children's reading diaries once a week, and would like to see 3 separate signatures from parents to show that their child has been reading regularly at home.

Important information:

P.E

Our PE days are the same as last term.
PE (indoor) will take place on Monday afternoon.
Games (outdoor) will take place on a Tuesday afternoon.
Children will need school PE kit for these lessons. If children are unable to participate in P.E, they will need a note from a parent informing the teacher with a valid reason.
The school has recently been awarded the Active Mark award for our outstanding performances and results in regard to our P.E provision, and we strongly encourage all children to participate fully in every lesson.

Homework

Will be issued every Thursday, please ensure that your child completes their homework and gives it back no later than the following Thursday so that feedback can be given

School Uniform

May I remind parents that school uniform is compulsory. Trainers and jogging bottoms are not a part of acceptable school uniform

Attendance

The attendance in Year 5 is currently above the schools target of 94%, to increase our percentage could parents please ensure that your child is lined up on the yard no later than 8.50am so that they can be registered and learning can take place immediately.

Access to the school

Could all parents ensure that they do not enter the school to pick up their child. A member of staff will remain at the door while the other member ensures that your child is on their way to exiting the building.
