Become a Hwb Hero!

 

Hwb Heroes Assemble! A call to children and young people to become Hwb Heroes

 

Wales Education Minister, Kirsty Williams, has launched an initiative to get the children and young people of Wales using their creativity to spread positive and entertaining messages online to older people who are currently self-isolating due to the Covid-19 lockdown.

Comprehension 

 

This week, please read the comprehension on page 10 and complete the answer questions on page 11 of your comprehension book.

 

Remember to read the text carefully before looking at the questions. Underline any key information if it helps you to remember it.  

 

Grammar

 

This week please complete page 7 of your grammar book 'Using 'a' or 'an' '. 

 

 

Spellings

 

Please work on page 27 of your spelling workbook and then complete the uploaded spelling list below.

 

Mrs Bird's class please complete the uploaded spelling list below then practice these words by writing them into your own sentences.

Numeracy

 

This week, please complete this week's abacus revision test uploaded below.

 

Don't forget to login into Bug Club where maths games and useful videos are available to help with the questions in this revision.

 

 

Handwriting

 

This week, please work on pages 8 & 9 of the Penpals workbook. 

 

Look at the examples on the page first and copy their joins. Please then practice these joins on lined paper but adding key words into sentences.

Creative Writing

 

This week's creative writing task is to write a persuasive letter. The theme of the letter is 'Children of over 7 years old should be allowed to decide their own bedtime at the weekend'.

 

The documents below include: 

  • A persuasive letter WAGOLL (What a good one looks like)
  • A success criteria (don't forget to use this to remind yourself what you need in your letter)
  • A planning sheet and template to help organise you letter

 

Google Classroom

 

Creative writing tasks will be uploaded to our 3G Google Classroom where children can submit and receive feedback on their work. 

To access Google Classroom please follow the steps below:

 

- login to Hwb

- select Google for Education

- selecct 3G Mr Gumm's class

 

Here you will be able to view the tasks which I have assigned.
