BugClub Update: you may have noticed after logging into BugClub that you have been allocated some Phonics activities. Work through these at your own pace. Teachers can monitor BugClub activity and see what you have completed each week.

Task 5

Creative Writing Task - Over the next few weeks we will be writing our very own minibeast stories. This week we will be looking at character and setting descriptions and the story opener. You may want to base your stories on a familiar story or create your very own! I have included some popular minibeast stories below. Mrs Bird will be retelling the story of 'The Cautious Caterpillar', which you can read and watch below. Take a look at the PP- you will see Mrs Bird pop up and help you write your descriptions! REMEMBER- I only want to see the story opener this week! 

You can send your work back to the teachers by logging into Google Classrooms with your child's HWB login.

As usual please continue to read at home with your child. BugClub reading books are available online and teachers can monitor usage and update when new books need issuing.

Numeracy

Well done to those of you continuing to use BugClub to access your Abacus maths tasks. I've also uploaded the Homework Sheet & Problem Solving tasks to Google Classroom so you won't need to print them, you can add your answers digitally if this is easier.

This week focuses on relating multiplication and division to ‘clever counting’ (steps of 2, 3, 5, 10), understanding multiplication as arrays, and solving divisions as missing number problems.

Task 1

Abacus Maths Game: Balloon Pop 2 (Solve missing number multiplications up to the 12th multiple, by counting up in steps of 2, 5 and 10, e.g. ? × 5 = 20)
