Speech Link

The focus in Speech Link at the moment is practising 's' and 't' sounds.

Below you will find an abundance of activities that will help with your child's pronunciation of these sounds.

Ask your child to think about words that begin with an 's' and 't'. Encourage your child to practise saying these sounds in isolation correctly before moving on to saying them in words.

Perhaps your child could draw a picture of something that begins with an 's' or 't'. Could you go on a sound or word hunt around your home? Could you practise writing and saying the sounds in bath foam, when baking or using sticks or stones outdoors?

If you feel your child is ready, move onto the new digraph sounds; ch and sh. Practise saying these sounds together. Explain that when these sounds become friends they make this sound together.
